CANADA[B 24] New France (Canada) - 1744. Entitled " Carte de la Partie Orientale de la Nouvelle France, ou du Canada", this 1744 map by Bellin shows New France, now modern day Quebec, from James Bay south to the St. Lawrence River Valley and beyond and east to Newfoundland, the Maritimes and the Labrador coast. The area of New York and New England north of Catskill, Deerfield and Boston is also shown. Forts, navigable rivers, and the lands of the "First Nations" peoples are identified.
