TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Unless otherwise indicated, all books described are in sound, usable condition ("very good"), in the original binding and are 8vo. (approximately 6" X 9" in size.) Most are not new; however, previous owners' names or bookplates are not noted unless such markings of previous ownership are disfiguring. Bindings on older books will usually show normal signs of wear and use relative to the age of the book. Excessive wear or damage is noted in the description. Books whose condition is above average are also noted.

All books are offered subject to prior sale and prices are subject to change without notice. We regret that we can neither rent nor send books on approval. All prices are net and do not include packing and shipping charges.  For U.S. orders, these charges are: $4.00 for the first book or volume in a set and $1.00 for each additional book or volume. Books are shipped via U.S. Postal Service - Book Rate or equivalent.

In the interests of conserving space, we often use abbreviations in our catalogue descriptions. Some are given below:

aeg. - all edges gilt; als. - autograph letter, signed; biblio. - bibliography; col. - color; dj. - dust jacket; exlib. - former library copy, with the usual library marks; fep. - front endpaper; frontis. - an illustration, usually a portrait, opposite the title page; foxing - brown age spotting; illus. - illustrated, or illustrations; laid in - inserted, but not attached; Nd. - undated; Np. - no place of publication shown; ports. - portraits, usually engraved or photographed; teg. - top edge gilt; tipped in - an attached insert; uncut - pages not trimmed at edges; unopened - pages never cut open or trimmed, as originally bound; wraps - paper bound.

Sizes other than 8vo. (see above) are: 12mo. - approx. 5" X 7"; 4to. - approx. 9" X 12"; folio - approx. 12" X 18" or larger.
