Unless otherwise indicated, all books in this list are in sound, usable condition ("very good"), in the original cloth binding and are 8vo. (approximately 6" X 9" in size.) Most are not new; however, previous owners' names, bookplates, stamps and other marks of ownership are not noted unless such markings are disfiguring. Bindings on older books will usually show normal signs of wear and use relative to the age of the book. Excessive wear or damage is noted in the description. Books whose condition is above average are also noted.

Biblio., illus., photos, maps, folding map in rear pocket, red cloth (edges of spine a little worn), 4to., VG condition, 320 pp. Thoroughly researched and well documented, this history of a Rutland County community contains information not easily found elsewhere.  Pages 239 through 303 contain genealogies of town families.  An important and uncommon reference. $100.00

612187 A History of the Town of Poultney, Vermont, from its settlement to the year 1875, with Family and Biographical Sketches and Incidents, by J. Joslin, B. Frisbie and F. Ruggles. Published by the authors, Poultney, VT in 1875. Louis M. Dewey’s copy. Black cloth (worn), 8vo., 369 pp. Pages 251-254 (part of the David Dewey family through part of the David Dye family) have been clipped out and two small pieces of paper on the Dewey family have been laid in. The owner notes: “see page 285 Dewey Genealogy”. Perhaps he disagreed with what was published in this book. Numerous notes are written in the remainder of the Dewey family section and notes are written inside the back cover. $125.00

A thorough year-by-year history of the Vermont hospital also known as the Brattleboro Retreat.  A very attractive copy in excellent condition and in its original brown pebbled cloth, this book contains references to many individuals associated with its founding, construction, administration and care.  It does not contain references to named patients. $85.00
